This year of 2022, we are definitely seeing a lot of vintage styles wherever you look, especially on social media like instagram and tiktok. I’m always a big fan of the 1970’s bell bottom pants and 1980’s shoulder pads. Also the super nice flapper girls outfit! I still remember partying with Paris Hilton back in Malaysia and the dress code was flapper 1920’s! Everyone just looks so good CLICK ME to see my outfit that night! And HERE is everyone!
I guess many people this year as well started buying their clothes in second hand shops, vintage shops or thrift stores which is really cool! Everyone’s doing their little part for sustainability and hopefully if you’re reading this, you’ll be encouraged to do the same as well. Vintage clothes are nice pieces and unique. Fabrics are really good and mostly designer items back in your favourite fashion era! To think that those vintage clothes are still nice and well until now is just proof of how good the fashion industry was a long time ago. Now, our clothes don’t even last long after just a few wash, which is sad especially if one of the items is your favourite to wear.
I was lucky to be invited to visit the pop-up shop of @nouvellevagueofficial located in @kulturehousedubai. It is my very first time visiting the place and it was lovely! The outdoor sitting area just transports you into another country with lots of greenery and also the perfect weather of winter in Dubai right now makes it extra amazing. I was in a hurry that time so I didn’t really have time to stay for long and enjoy some snacks or not even a cup of coffee so I’m sure that I’ll be back soon while the weather permits.
@NouvelleVagueOfficial is a Beirut-based vintage shop. Every clothing is handpicked and curated and still in pristine condition. If you visit them now, you may have a chance to have a chat with the Founder Tatiana. I love how passionate she is! All the vintage clothes are found from different countries and amazing designer collections too which are really amazing! They are constantly updating their collections with new found gems so what are you waiting for! Check them out now and you won’t regret it for sure! And By that, you can thank me later haha
Visiting @nouvellvagueofficial pop-up shop in @kulturehousedubai brings back those deep thoughts and love for vintage. Most of my clothes are from second hand or thrift shops as well. You’ll see me always wearing shoulder padded blazers, Mom jeans, and definitely a lot of 70’s bell bottoms pants and jumpsuits. I just think that they are more fashionable and classic and timeless to be in your closet, and you can never go wrong wearing them. To think that I won’t worry showing up to an event dressed up the same as another girl hahaha it happened once and not doing it again.
Just a reminder that buying second hand, visiting thrift shops or vintage shops are nothing to be embarrassed of. Instead, Be proud! You are into sustainability, helping the earth’s climate change, and maybe saving a little bit of money on the side while being the most fashionable person in the room! IMPORTANT message from me; The most sustainable and eco-friendly thing you can do is NOT BUYING things you don’t need! And if you really need something, then @nouvellevagueofficial is the place to go for sure!
