Creating a custom t-shirt with your own unique design is a fun and effective way to promote a business, organize large groups, or spread a civic message. The trick is deciding upon the printing process that will best meet your needs. Printing technology has come a long way in recent years. Today, you can easily transfer images from photos or a computer screen onto almost any medium without losing a single degree of photo quality.
You may wonder with the advent of computer design programs, why anyone would use traditional methods such as screen printing. Well, the truth is that even with all of the advantages that digital and offset printing may offer, when it comes to t-shirts, there are still some areas where screen printing reigns supreme.
Due to the unique qualities of fabric, it’s often difficult to transfer an image directly onto it without comprising its clarity. However, since screen printing adds each color layer individually, little is lost in the finished product. This also allows you to use a wide array of colors and shades, adding to the vibrancy of the completed image.
Because the ink imprinted during the screen printing process is placed in such a thick layer, it will be much more durable against standard wear-and-tear. Special treatments are also available that help screen printed inks stand up to moisture and UV rays over time, allowing their images to go for years without experiencing any fading.
Finally, the screen printing process is one that can easily be done on your own. To see all of the steps involved from start to finish, view the infographic below.
