From time to time, it is always nice to have a quick weekend getaway somewhere with your family, with your friends or just go by yourself. It’s somehow refreshing and good for your mental health for sure!
Well I am back in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia now, and I am reunited with my two bae’s Jessy and Carinn although Carinn lives in Johor Bahru and Jessy is now Married and a Wifey too! Still, we are in the same country haha. Then we are all closer than when I was in Dubai, UAE. I do really miss Dubai though… Somehow, and super weird feelings. I’ll be writing another Blog about that for sure so stay tuned and make sure to CLICK ME and subscribe to my Blog updates and don’t miss anything.
So moving on to the real topic of this blog post haha Our Friend Carinn is getting married in Johor Bahru and since Jessy and I are both in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and she, of course invited us haha we went for a road trip and spent the weekends together! Yay!
We started the road trip at 7am by Jessy Picking me up in my house of course! Because I am a professional Passenger! (insert Cardi B LOLs) then a 3 hour drive up to Johor Bahru which is Nearby Singapore if you are not familiar with the place. Can you believe it that I’ve been here 3months already and this is the first time that Jessy and I have seen each other haha! Because we are both adults, we understand timing and scheduling for meetups is now crucial and not easy which I think most of you all can totally relate with our situation. But we are good, we missed each other for sure and I missed her wedding because I’m in Dubai but I joined online anyways hehe It was a beautiful intimate wedding.
Driving up there stuck in the car, I’m trying not to fall asleep while Jessy is driving her smart car y’all! But we managed, we laughed, we talked about a lot of things, catching up, and after 3 hours we arrived at Pan Ming Xian Dimsum restaurant to eat Breakfast + Lunch = Brunch hehe. We ordered so many things and Jessy loves their Shark Fin Soup! Everything is delicious and service is really good too! They are a newly opened restaurant and people were queuing up outside! So many choices to choose from! Our bill was around 100+RM already forgot hehe
After our Brunch, we tried to get ourselves some desserts of the Famous hundred years of traditional Banana Cake in Johor Bahru. But as I’ve said that it is famous, The line was too long when we arrived at the bakery around 12pm and we just decided to go and check in to our hotel instead. So we checked in, we filmed our room tour and had a quick power nap! Then we decided to drive and check out the famous banana cake in Johor Bahru again for the second time and I guess we were lucky! There’s barely a line of people when we reached the place and only spent like 5minutes and got our banana cake! Woot!! Woot!! After getting the price of getting the famous banana cake of Johor Bahru, we stopped by the “Best Chicken Chop” in Johor Bahru where we had our lunch. Recommended to just eat the Crispy Chicken as per my taste test as the mushroom chicken I got already felt mushy to eat with so much sauce but it is not that bad #justsaying
Of course we had to try the banana cake! I’ve had so many banana cakes or bread in my life OK? I’m sure we all do. I’m not going to hype or rave about it like everyone else. The banana cake has just the right amount of sweetness, and the texture is amazing! And smells wow and just beautiful! Recommended and best to eat while hot or warm. Other than that… Just try to get a box and experience and taste the traditional wood-fired oven, a hundred years of traditional banana cake in Johor Bahru since 1919.
Moving on, we went back to the hotel and had some rest and power nap again! Then we started preparing ourselves for the wedding of our dear friend Carinn which is the very first reason why we are in Johor Bahru and not the banana cake hehe. I’m just happy for all of us! I’m back in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and my two baes are both married and wifey!! Now we have to plan for a wifey’s spa day or wifey’s ladies night or travel somewhere! The wedding was sooo beautiful. It’s my first time attending a Chinese wedding and their vintage theme is just lovely! The weather was with us that weekend since it didn’t rain at all but a little drizzle didn’t hurt. It felt more like a blessing from above! After the wedding, Jessy and I left, went back to the hotel and decided to drive somewhere. It was a fun night nonetheless. We drove to a wrong place and the road was super dark haha but we managed to get some snacks and drinks and end the night.
The next day it was time to drive and go back to Kuala Lumpur. But before that… we picked up Kisha, our other friend and we decided to drive to Forest City. I’ve heard of this place before but never thought that it is in Malaysia. The place is just beautiful for me Lols The city is covered with plants and trees! Well, of course it is a Forest City afterall. We walked to Forest Beach and drove away for lunch! Where we got disappointed by how much soup they served us haha and me not knowing I ordered a cold Ramen haha I did learn some few things from this weekend getaway. Then we started our way back to Kuala Lumpur and talked about girly things haha Then to KLCC we decided to eat dinner at dotty’s pastries and coffee. Food was good. Steak sandwich was chewy and Rude guy ruined the night! More about this story on my next blog post! But make sure to watch my youtube video below and let me know what you think about it! X0- Jane
